Italian Postmodern Faux-Marble Resin Coffee Table by CeccarPlast, 1970s

Ceccarplast

Faux-marble postmodern table, Italy, 1970s

Manufactured by an Italian company named Ceccarplast that popularized this technique in the 1960s and became very innovative during the 1970s and 1980s from an unknown designer.

It consists of a resin covered enamel lacquers over a wooden substrate that is painted to resemble marble.

The intricacy of the painted surface is amazing and fools the eye into believing that it is not faux but is actually real marble.

The colours used on the table are all neutrals black and light gold and could fit into almost any interior.

This table has its first provenance from the German countertenor and "new wave" artist-performer Klaus Nomi (1944-1983).

The general condition is very good with a visible slight crack on the top table.
