Made-to-order from unknown cabinetmaker, Milan, Italy, 1949-52

Build in solid hard maple wood. The yellow veneer maple contrasting to the black lacquer, suspensions and drawers handles in Lucite and in between the drawers and top desk, giving an impression of floating.

Under influence of the Italian Rationalism that stabilised a nuance of relation with the technical, typological and aesthetic experimentations of the European avant-garde on the one side, and the new post-war "Atomic-Age" tendencies on the other.

Provenance from a scriptwriter, Los Angeles, California. Purchased by the previous owner in an antique store in London in the 1990s.

This unique piece is in very good vintage condition.
